Carmel disappeared from her home in Crawley, Sussex on 23 May 1998.  Though it is thought that Carmel may have travelled to Brixton in London, as she used to live in nearby Peckham, her current whereabouts are not known.

There is great concern for Carmel's welfare and her mum, Deidre, is desperately worried. She urges Carmel to get in touch even if it is just to let her know that she is alright. Deidre says: "Carmel, if you don't want anyone to know where you are that’s fine - we just want to know that you are safe and well.  Please just pick up the phone, all you need to say is 'Hi mum, it’s me, I'm fine'.  We all love and miss you".

Carmel, who may be using the surname Pendry, is 5ft tall with black bobbed hair and brown eyes.  She is half Maltese with a Mediterranean complexion and has a 2" scar in the middle of her forehead.
