Volunteers at Missing People help us to extend the lifeline we're able to offer to those affected by missing. Whether utilising skills you already have or learning new ones, volunteers support in different areas of our work from direct support on our helpline, to assisting staff teams in the office, to raising awareness about the work we do at events in local communities.

Supporter Engagement Volunteer

What you'd be doing

  • Researching local community groups and sports teams as well as their social media to see if they would like to support us 
  • Researching magazines and other forms of media to advertise our community and challenge campaigns
  • Carrying out various administrative tasks that will greatly support our busy Fundraising Team

Qualities/Experience/Skills Needed

  • Comfortable with computers as well as various social media platforms
  • Good level of organisation and communication 
  • Able to work as part of a team as well as independently

What this role can offer you

  • Gain experience working within a enthusiastic Fundraising team
  • Make a big difference in how we reach out to the wider community which is vital for us in raising funds
  • Gain insight into how community and challenge campaigns are organised and advertised 

Location and Availability

  • Central office in South West London - SW14 7JE
  • Ideally you'll be able to support us once a week
  • We would hope that you would be able to commit to at least 6 months of volunteering

Major Gifts Volunteer

What you'd be doing

  • Supporting our Major Gifts Team with administrative duties, including keeping our database up to date and writing content for letters/promotional materials and our website
  • Helping at organised VIP events like our Carol Service and Fundraising Dinner, as well as our Corporate Volunteering Days

Qualities/Experience/Skills needed

  • Previous fundraising experience isn't essential
  • Confident communicator, both verbally and written, with an eye for detail
  • Motivated by making a difference 

What this role can offer you

  • Learn new skills, or utilise existing skills, in Major Gifts and Corporate Fundraising for a nationwide charity
  • Make a big difference to the amount of funds and awareness we're able to raise so we can continue to be a lifeline
  • Full training and support will be provided

Location and availability

  • Central Office in South West London - SW14 7JE. Locations of events will vary
  • Ideally you will be able to support twice a month. This would be a mixture of time spent in our office and at events
  • We would hope that you would be able to commit to at least six months' of volunteering

Events Support - London

What you'd be doing

This role is really varied and flexible around your diary. It can include:

  • Being part of cheering squads for our amazing runners and cyclists at events
  • Joining our fun bucket collection events across the city. You could even organise one yourself with our help
  • Helping at our community events by assisting set up, welcoming guests, distributing information materials and more

Qualities/Experience/Skills needed 

  • Motivated by making a difference, reliable and willing to get stuck in
  • Good communicator with a non-judgemental approach
  • Keen to learn more about an issue that affects over 250,000 people in the UK every year

What this role can offer you 

  • Flexible volunteering that fits around your diary
  • Meet likeminded fellow volunteers
  • Gain insights into events run by a national charity

Location and availability

  • Ideally, you'll be happy to volunteer at least three times a year
  • Specific location depends on the event and each event typically lasts between 1 - 8 hours
